CIEMEN is a cultural, not-for-profit, non-governmental Catalan organization with an international scope and over 40 years of experience in the field of stateless nations, minoritised peoples and diversity. It aims both to contribute to a better knowledge of peoples and nations that are marginalize or see their identity and existence threatened, and to support and foster the recognition and respect of individual and collective rights as a way to progress towards a lasting peace and democracy.

History
The organization was brought to life while still in exile in the cosmopolitan city of Milan in 1974, after several years of incubation in Catalonia. Ever since, CIEMEN has launched and taken part in dozens of initiatives in support for the rights of peoples worldwide.
What we do
Both in the national and international arena, both in an individual capacity or through networking, CIEMEN is an active organization with several ongoing projects and activities in the field of media, dissemination, training, advocacy and awareness raising.
Board and staff
CIEMEN is led by its own directive board, which is democratically elected by the members’ General Assembly. The organization has a permanent staff working on a daily basis in national and international projects, and an advisory council.
